Folk legend Elizabeth Cotten won her first Grammy in her 90s. She taught herself to play guitar and wrote her first songs by age 11. She would come to be be called an American Treasure. “The Music of Elizabeth Cotton” is an introduction to American folk music for students, and a great way to kick off your school’s music program. It can also include an introduction to musical instruments (recorder, ukulele, or guitar).
